How to keep your PC cool in the summer

In a tropical country like Bangladesh, it is challenging to keep the PC safe from the extreme heat and humidity in summer. So, we have tried to figure out some solutions that can help you to save your PC from the blazing heat of summer.

  1. Clean your PC

Dust is your enemy when it comes to the physical safety of your PC. Too much dust can damage your components and create unnecessary heat that can slow down your PC. So, clean your pc with computer cleaning kit, brush etc. However, it is always better to use a blower to clean dust from your system. It is wise not to use wet fabric to clean the congested part of your components.

  1. Reapply thermal paste

Using PC for a long time such as for two years may dry the thermal paste applied between the CPU cooling fan and processor surface. This may cause heat and damage your CPU. In the summer, it is wise to reapply thermal paste on the surface of your CPU. Although it is quite easy to apply thermal paste on the CPU surface, if you are not confident enough to apply it, better take help from the expert service providers.

  1. Keep your system away from windows and vents

If you keep your PC near windows or vents, you may think that it will get cool air from outside which will keep your PC cool. But you are forgetting that it is not the cool air that your system gets in the summer. It will get hot summer air instead of cool breeze. And guess what comes with the outside air? Dust!! Dust will cover your PC and you will need to clean your PC every day. So, it is better to keep your PC in a safe place of the room away from windows and vents.

  1.  Do not keep your system in a congested space

There are some people who keeps their system’s casing in a box or in a congested place. Their PC hardly gets free space and cannot circulate heat. If you want your PC to be cool, try to keep it in an open space. Or at least make a breathing room for your PC by giving it 6inch of space all around it.

  1. Avoid overclocking in the summer

We know it is quite tempting for the people who love to overclock. If you don’t know what overclocking is, it is the practice of increasing the clock rate of a computer to exceed that certified by the manufacturer to make it faster for a certain period. Although it increases the computing speed and power, it decreases computers capability in the long run. Moreover, the additional generated heat caused by overclocking affects the performance of the PC in the long run. Therefore, it is better to avoid overclocking in this summer unless you have a very powerful cooling system.

  1. Do not keep your PC case open

The purpose of PC casing is to hold all the components in the specific places and protect them from outside harm. This protection can be done from physical damage or from dust and outside heat. But there are some users who keep their PC casing open thinking that outside airflow will keep the PC cool. But this is a wrong concept because outside airflow will also bring dust which can cause damage to the PC and they have to clean their PC quite often. The ideal solution is a good CPU cooler and an organized casing fan system which can keep the PC cool. This solution is far better than keeping the PC case open.

  1. Upgrade your CPU cooler if needed

If you think your CPU cooler is backdated and it cannot perform the way it is supposed to then it is time to upgrade your CPU cooler. You can buy either Air CPU cooler or Liquid CPU Cooler, it is up to you. Just do your research to find out which suits you best.

  1. Add casing fans if needed

A good casing cooling fan system can help you to manage airflow in your system. It is way better than keeping the PC casing open which may draw dust in the system.

  1. Check your system's power supply fan

Many people care about fancy CPU cooling fan or casing fans so much that they forget about another important cooling fan in their system. That is power supply fan. As a user, you need to check your PSU fan regularly and clean dust to keep your power supply unit safe and functioning.

  1. Install a water-cooling kit if needed

If you think this is absolutely necessary for your work, then you can install additional water-cooling system in your PC to keep it cool. This might be expensive but this is necessary for the users who run PC for long hours and do heavy processing work.

Hopefully if you follow the above points, you can save your PC from the scorching heat of summer. You can visit Ryans Computers website and check all the components, tools and accessories that can help you to keep your PC cool and safe from the summer’s heat.
