4K

What is 4K?

4K is a resolution standard for digital displays and content that refers to a horizontal resolution of around 4,000 pixels.

Specifically, the resolution is typically either 3840 x 2160 pixels (also known as Ultra High Definition or UHD) or 4096 x 2160 pixels (also known as Digital Cinema 4K or DCI 4K). This is a significant increase in resolution compared to traditional high-definition (HD) displays, which have a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The higher pixel density of 4K displays allows for greater detail and clarity in images and video, making it ideal for large-screen displays and high-quality content such as movies and TV shows. It also enables users to zoom in or crop footage without losing significant image quality. However, to take full advantage of the benefits of 4K, you need a compatible display or device, as well as content that is specifically recorded or encoded in 4K. Many modern cameras and smartphones are capable of recording in 4K, and streaming services such as Netflix and Amazon Prime Video offer 4K content to their subscribers. Overall, 4K is a rapidly growing standard in the world of digital media, offering higher quality images and video than ever before.
