Waterproof Level/Grade

What is Waterproof Level/Grade?

Waterproof level or grade is a measure of a product's ability to withstand exposure to water without damage.

There are different standards and ratings used to describe waterproof level, depending on the product and the intended use. For example, in smartphones and other electronic devices, waterproof rating is typically measured using the Ingress Protection (IP) rating system, which provides information about the device's resistance to dust and water. The IP rating consists of two numbers, with the first number representing dust protection and the second number representing water protection. The higher the numbers, the better the protection. Another rating system used for waterproof level is the ATM (atmospheres) rating, which is commonly used for watches. It indicates the level of water resistance the watch can withstand when submerged in water. The higher the ATM rating, the more water-resistant the watch is. It's important to note that even products with high waterproof ratings may still be susceptible to water damage under certain conditions, such as being submerged in water for extended periods or exposed to high water pressure. Therefore, it's important to use products according to their intended use and to follow the manufacturer's instructions for proper care and maintenance.
