What is IP Phone?
An IP phone, or Internet Protocol phone, is a type of phone that uses internet protocol technology to make and receive phone calls over the internet.
IP phones are also known as VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) phones. Unlike traditional phones, which use analog signals to transmit voice data, IP phones convert voice data into digital packets and transmit them over the internet. This allows users to make and receive calls from anywhere with an internet connection, and often at a lower cost than traditional phone services. IP phones can be either hardware-based, with a physical phone that connects to the internet through an Ethernet cable, or software-based, which uses a computer or mobile device with a software application to make calls. Many IP phones also come with additional features such as caller ID, call waiting, and voicemail. IP phones are commonly used in business environments, as they can provide cost savings and flexibility for companies with employees working remotely or in multiple locations. They can also be used for personal communication, such as making calls to friends and family overseas.
