Zero RPM Fan Mode

What is Zero RPM Fan Mode?

Zero RPM fan mode is a feature of some power supply units (PSUs) that allows the fan inside the PSU to stop spinning under low load or idle conditions.

The purpose of this mode is to reduce noise levels in the system, as the fan is one of the main sources of noise in a computer. In Zero RPM fan mode, the fan will remain off until the PSU reaches a certain temperature or power draw threshold, at which point it will turn on automatically to provide cooling. This is different from other fan control modes such as constant speed or variable speed, where the fan is always running at a fixed or varying speed regardless of the load on the PSU. Zero RPM fan mode is typically found in high-end PSUs designed for gaming or workstation use, where noise levels are a concern for users who want a quieter computing experience. It can be an effective way to reduce noise without sacrificing cooling performance, as the fan will only turn on when needed.
