Optic Groups

What is Optic Groups?

Optic groups refer to the various lenses or lens elements that make up a camera lens.

A lens can be made up of one or several optic groups, and each group is responsible for a specific function such as focusing or correcting aberrations. Each group may consist of one or more individual lens elements, which are pieces of glass or other transparent material that are curved to refract light in a specific way. The arrangement and number of optic groups in a lens can affect the overall performance and image quality of the lens, and different types of lenses may have different numbers and arrangements of optic groups. For example, a prime lens may have fewer optic groups than a zoom lens, and a telephoto lens may have more complex optic group arrangements than a wide-angle lens. The design and construction of optic groups is a crucial aspect of lens engineering and plays a significant role in determining the capabilities and characteristics of a camera lens.
