Proximity

What is Proximity?

Proximity sensor is a sensor technology commonly found in smartphones and tablets.

It measures the distance between the device and an object or surface in front of it, usually by emitting and detecting infrared light. When an object comes close to the sensor, it triggers a response such as turning off the screen or changing the display mode. Proximity sensors are used in a variety of applications such as automatic screen dimming, power saving, and gesture recognition. In smartphones and tablets, they are used to turn off the screen when the device is placed near the user's ear during a call, or to prevent accidental touches when the device is placed in a pocket or bag. They are also used in gaming and augmented reality apps to detect the user's hand movements and gestures.
